Listed below are the types of data that the Data Transfer Utility can and cannot transfer. A "Y" indicates that the transaction or list type can be transferred. See the "How to Buy" link above for a table showing which years of QuickBooks these versions work with. Canadian and UK users see notes at the bottom of this page.
(1) Payroll checks and tax liability checks can be transferred using our Check Transfer Utility. See http://www.q2q.us/ctuoverview.htm for more information on this program. Beginning with version 12.03 of this Data Transfer Utility program, Sales Tax Payment Checks should be transferred with this program instead of the Check Transfer Utility program. This only applies to QuickBooks 2012 and later. For earlier versions of QuickBooks, you should continue to use the Check Transfer Utility program to transfer Sales Tax Payment Checks. This doesn't affect payroll checks and payroll liability checks which should continue to be transferred with the Check Transfer Utility program. (2) Payroll items for deductions and taxes can't be transferred. Deduction and tax items have to be manually added to the payroll items list and to individual employees. (3). Build Assembly transactions in Enterprise 2012 files using advanced inventory (serial numbers or lot numbers) can't be transferred at this time (12/20/11). Inventory adjustment transactions in Enterprise 2012 files using advanced inventory (serial numbers or lot numbers) can't add or remove serial numbers or lot numbers from existing items. We are waiting for QuickBooks to update their Software Development Kit (SDK) to include this capability. (5). Transferred custom field definitions don't include the required flag or the format string that can can be added to custom fields in the Enterprise version of QuickBooks. We are waiting for QuickBooks to update their Software Development Kit (SDK) to include this capability Effective in 2007, Intuit removed the ability to transfer the full credit card number in customer transfers. All but the last 4 digits of the card number are now changed to x's and the number is no longer usable. To avoid this when starting a new file, use method 1 in the Preparation paragraph at http://www.q2q.us/bbtuoverview.htm to create the new file. Canadian 2008 User Notes. Because of bugs in Intuit's Software Development Kit for Canadian QuickBooks 2008, version 8 of the Data Transfer Utility (when used with Canadian QuickBooks 2008) has the following limitations: 1. Accounts and Vendors can't be transferred and have to be transferred using QuickBooks IIF process. 2. Credit Card Refund and Item Sales Tax can't be transferred. The refunds will need to be entered manually and Item Sales Tax can be transferred with IIF. 3. Transfers of Purchase Orders, Vendor Credits and Item Receipts don't include the Sales Tax Code and the default Sales Tax Code in the destination company is added to the transactions.
