Update Custom Fields - Items

Overview

Introduction:

The Update Custom Fields - Items program, copies each items average cost to an average cost custom field for that item. This allows the average cost to be placed on sales transactions so you can easily compare the sales price and average cost as you create invoices and sales receipts.

The standard QuickBooks field for average cost can't be placed on a sales transaction but the average cost custom field updated by this program can be placed on those transactions. In addition, average cost can be add to the Item list so you an scan the list and compare sales price to average cost.

Optionally you can transfer Purchase Cost and Manufacturers Part Number (MPN) to custom fields so that purchase cost or MPN an be placed on sales invoices and sales receipts. Beginning with version 11.05, you can copy the Standard Price to a list name so that you can show both a list price and discounted price on invoices, sales receipts and sales orders.

Also the export report for the program calculates the current markup percent for each inventory and assembly item. This report can be run even of you don't plan to update the custom fields.

This program doesn't create an automatic link between average cost and the custom field for average cost but you can easily run the program at any time that you need to update the custom fields.
